…and this post shows me that if I would just
PICK ONE THING AND FINISH IT
That maybe I wouldn’t have a billionty things in progress with nothing to really show for it.
Have I learned my lesson? Nope. I almost think I work better this way. Or else that’s just one of the nice things I tell myself.
(Warning – this post could not be any less dial up friendly if I tried)
So I finished my Sunrise/Sunset pair of scrapbook pages. From vacation in 2009, but since I’ve still not finished my 2008 scrapbook this is practically current events.
(as usual - know that my pages are not crooked/cropped and/or warped the way they look here. I've still not found a better way to post a 12x12 page using a tiny scanner that doesn't require that cut and paste panoramic program that makes the edges "off")

Two relatively simple looking pages. Probably would have been really quick to make up, if only I didn’t get distracted on the tiniest fiddly details.

Like the four piece sun I made, and then cut out parts of the palm tree to partially cover.

The arrow I cut out to put some shiny (almost metallic) ribbon with coloured paper behind, the arrow I cut to pop over the photo, and the writing I stamped on and then traced with glitter pen.

The two pairs of flip flops I cut the middles out of so I could use more of that shiny ribbon...
I might be making this whole thing a little more involved than I have to. We’re not even going to talk about the photomats that I coloured around the edges of with gold pen.
“Traveling Sally” is a christmas/Birthday present for my soon to be 5 year old neice. This is a project that could technically have been considered done, and well before schedule. Only problem is that I want to make her some extras for the doll, including pj’s and another outfit. Still have months left, so this shouldn’t be a problem.

(heehee she’s nekkid – yeah I realize that I'm so mature)

And here she is in her purple dress.
THEN I found this doll trunk at the flea market. I wasn’t going to buy it, because it needs some sanding and painting and they were asking too much. Then RLBF had his brother ask the people how much they would take for it, since it hadn’t sold by the time they were packing up. They lowered the price to $3 and so he had him buy it. Can’t pass that up, and even with the cleaning and whatnot it’ll save me work over trying to build something similar looking out of shoeboxes, right? The doll herself won’t fit inside, but the trunk will be good for holding all her accessories, just like a real trunk.

Thinking of black paint overall, either clean the decorative bits or repaint them a brassy colour. Then I want to try to get some travel stickers or something to stick on it. Will look cute, and as an added bonus cover a couple of the rust spots that I’m pretty sure will never totally smooth out.
Can’t forget other niece - She’s still practically a baby, a doll with outfits would probably be nothing but a nightmare for my sister. Instead she’s getting a topsy turvy doll, something I’m surprised more people haven’t heard of. I had a couple when I was little, and I’m not that old.

I’ve had her main body done for a while, and am finished up the last few rows of the skirts. White ‘belt’ before I attach that, and then she’ll just be missing arms, hair and decorating her face.
If I actually sat down and worked on it, she’d probably be finished fairly quickly.
RLBF’s Ugly Hat. The green will get wrapped around the bill and then folded to cover his ears. I’ve jut started the section that will have the Kawasaki ‘K’ on it.

In case you’ve forgotten, it’s supposed to be taking the place of this. This current favourite ugly hat:

Still have soooo much to do on Sue’s scarf/shawlette thingee. Not sure why it intimidates me so much, it shouldn’t be this complicated. It’s kind of been sitting on the desk waiting for me to pick it back up for a while.

Not blocked properly obvs, just kind of tacked out so I could show her the progress so far…what little there was.
It’s been sitting around waiting to be worked on like my totally impractical beautiful scarf. Starting to get cooler now, so I should get on finishing it soon.

AND THERE ARE ALL THE THINGS I’M WORKING ON
*whew* I got tired out just listing them all.
You’d think spending most my time this week home sick I would have gotten more done. Not so much. Starting to actually feel better today, so maybe next week will be different.

Date: 2012-05-21 01:55 am (UTC)From:The post with the rest of her clothes is here, but apparently I never took a picture of the trunk! My BF sanded the outside and painted it black for me. I took out that cardboard divider inside, it was just too tore up to save. The rest of the inside just took a little cleaning. The clothes can go on hangers on that bar, and the trunk is deep enough the doll fits with them as long as she's sitting down (her feet would have been blocked by that piece I took out, so it is just as well it had to go)
