A cake made for me by Japonica, one made by me for her, and one made for both of us by MaddyLion!

Japonica Sue made me this TARDIS cake for my birthday back in November. I loved it so much that I couldn’t bring myself to mess it up enough to eat any more of it than a couple bites I cut away from the back. I didn’t even eat the Rice Krispie Daleks! This has spawned the idea for a diet plan where all my favorite foods become TARDIS shaped and I am forced to resort to eating veggies.

In an attempt to pay her back for such an awesome cake, for Sue’s birthday in December I decided to recreate the tile wall from Torchwood on a cake. I figured that if I obsessively planned a design out it would be pretty easy and look really cool...

I was possibly a little overconfident and after nearly 4 hours spent frosting it I would have been happy to never see that wall again. If you knew me you would understand how serious that is. Fortunately I have since gotten over my issues. Unfortunately I think the crookedness of my lines shows I will never make a great mason. Overall I was pretty happy with how it turned out though, and I think she liked it (hasn’t managed to eat the lettering though - love of the cake or fear of black frosting overload?)

Not wanting to be left out of the fun, Sue’s daughter Maddylion made us a poison birthday cake for our Happy Who Year party in honor of when they used I Can’t Decide (Scissor Sisters) on “The Last of the Timelords” episode. I thought it was excellent use of the Mr Yuk poison symbol.

Now we just have to figure out how to top these cakes for next year (glad I’m not up first!) If only we could find some edible ball bearings...

I *did* love it! But, like you, I didn't want to mess up the lettering you spent so much time on. Unlike you, however, I don't think writing "Torchwood" on everything would stop me. I mean, I'm rather surprised it isn't on everything at my house already...

Give us a little time (and a fancy label maker), and that can be fixed!
