When you’re down to a week before gift exchange, trying to take the knuckle off of your thumb with a cheese grater is a bad idea. For serious. Don’t do that.

Without tumblr distracting me today I figured it was perfect time to finish this toy, but - even though it feels better than last night - my thumb is really not happy with the whole bending deal. This is about as much fun as when I punctured my finger with the sharp set.
Stupid small yet annoying injuries.

How is it that I can glide around on knife shoes without injury, then hurt myself finishing dinner up.
Wtf self.

I have a genuine phobia of using cheese graters because I hate the feel of hurting myself on them so much.

We use box graters. I say we, but it's Emma, because I avoid using it if I can. We have a mandolin, too, that I CERTAINLY don't use because I like my fingers the way they are, but Emma finds it useful when she wants to slice stuff really thin for a potato bake.

Emma has also sliced off bits of herself on the mandolin and the other month took a huge amount of the end of her finger off on the new cheese grater. Right in the middle of Inktober too. It bled through three bandaids for like 2 hours. Thankfully it's all healed well and apart from some days it still gets over sensitive and the end of my fingers is slightly flatter than it used to be, there's not too much damage. It was awful. If it was a cut I would have gone to get stitches but the whole top came off so there wasn't really anything they could have done.

I was too tired. I've been much more careful grating on the new sharp one since.

I also pulled a muscle in my arm and caused nerve pain in my hand carrying some burgers and chips from the burger shop to the other side of the shops where Ruth was doing the grocery shopping where I could put them in the trolley.
I sublaxed the end of my little finger taking my bag off.
I put my neck in a spasm bending forward slightly to put my jeans on. These were all just the past few days and it wasn't a bad few days injury wise.
It really doesn't take anything sharp to injure myself with. I'm rather fragile these days.

I love it for making potato bake etc. I can get one done in like 5 mins instead of half an hour and they're all thin and even slices. If I use it properly it's safer for me than using a knife because it's all over so quickly and I end up in a lot less shoulder, neck and hand pain.

They're one of the few kitchen tools we own that I know actively thirst for blood.
